Kapuskasing Library hosts variety of March Break activities

KAPUSKASING - The Kapuskasing Public Library will be a hot bed of activity this March Break for youth and families, as the Library's Teen Advisory Group will be hosting a wide variety of events and activities to participate in over the March Break week beginning March 12 to the 17.

KAPUSKASING - It was a busy week for the students participating in the Royal Canadian Legion's Public Speaking competition as the week held both the Branch level and Zone level competition in Kapuskasing.

Students from St.Patrick's Elementary School gave public speeches for an assembled crowd of family, friends, and judges on March 1 as part of the annual Royal Canadian Legion Public Speaking Contest.

KAPUSKASING - Three of Kapuskasing's 1635 Army Cadets competed in the recent regional level biathlon competition held in Sault Ste. Marie on Feb 9-11.

KAPUSKASING - Kapuskasing's International Women's Day celebrations are coming up soon, with the event hosted by Habitat Interlude, is planned to take place on March 5 at the basement of Immaculate Conception.

Blooming Bouquet begins planning for next Fashion Show

KAPUSKASING - Following a successful evening of fun, fashion, and fundraising for breast cancer research, held earlier in October of 2017, Blooming Bouquet Flowers and Gift Shop has begun planning for its next fashion show, set to take place in April.

With a winning hand Luc Portelance won first place and brought home $422.50.

Sno-Rovers Poker Rally sees positive turnout

KAPUSKASING - Not even the cold winter chill could stop over 70 people from participating in this year's annual Kapuskasing Sno-Rovers Poker Rally held on Feb.3.

KAPUSKASING - Five cadets from the 1635 Kapuskasing Army Cadet Corp received medals over the weekend at the Northern Ontario Area Cadet Biathlon held in Sault Ste Marie.

Kap artist showcases paintings in Timmins Hospital

KAPUSKASING - Kapuskasing artist Jo-Anne Fortin is showcasing her works at the The Timmins and District Hospital Foundation art gallery, with some of the proceeds being donated to the hospital for the purchasing of new medical equipment.

Les Boys Sports Excellence hosted a Reindeer Run earlier in December in order to raise funds, food, and gifts for the Food Bank in preparation for the holidays.

KAPUSKASING - Les Boys Sports Excellence raised $490, and a truck filled with food and gifts for the Kapuskasing Food Bank earlier in December through their first annual Reindeer Run hosted on Dec. 9.

KAPUSKASING - The North Eastern Ontario Family and Children's Services (NEOFACS) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) partnered on Dec.9 for their annual toy drive outside of Canadian Tire at the Model City Mall.
