KAPUSKASING – North Centennial Manor celebrated its many volunteers on May 2 with its semi-annual Volunteer Appreciation supper.
Activity Co-ordinator Sylvie Tremblay said that the event takes place every two years and serves as a way to recognize the volunteers for their assistance.
“We like to have a nice supper, with a dessert, and a little bit of wine as a get together to thank them for all the work they do over the years,” Tremblay said. “Some people come here three to four times a week to volunteer, so it's a bit unbelievable.”
She said that as the years go by, the volunteer groups have increased in size and scope.
“We're seeing more and more people that have retired, and then come to the Manor to volunteer,” she said. “They're still so young and they have so much love to offer.”
