KAPUSKASING – An evening of fashion and fun awaits, as Blooming Bouquet is set to host its spring Fashion Show on April 13.

The free to attend evening event is set to being at 7 pm, and will showcase a variety of fashion and jewellery featured on a variety of models.

“We're building on the Fashion Show we had last October which was very successful,” said event organizer Maureen Loaring-Reed. “The ladies really enjoyed themselves, and the overwhelming feedback was that if we have another one, to have it be longer.”

She said that the show is currently set to have twice as many models than before.

“We also have expanded the age range,” she said. “We're fortunate that the lines of clothing lend themselves to all ages, so we have models ranging from 13 years old through the 20's, 30's, right through to the 70's that will also be including Miss Northern Corridor. We're very excited about this.”

Beyond the increased scope, Loaring-Reed said no other format changes were made.

“We found the format to be very enjoyable for the ladies who came out,” she said. “The ladies hung around for quite awhile. They were chatting and looking around and they seem to enjoy themselves enough that they didn't rush out the door, so we're not changing anything at all there.”

While still a fundraising event, Loaring-Reed said that they will not be asking for donations.

“Instead of actively soliciting donations, we'll be mentioning of course the Breast Cancer research, and if people want to make a donation, we won't turn it down, but the idea is to raise awareness.”

“We think if we approach this more than just once a year, that it will keep the cause in the forefront of people's minds. So if people do wish to donate over the year, we'll have a jar in store always there at the counter. We won't be asking, we won't be soliciting, but it will be there.”

On top of that, Loaring-Reed said that store owner/manager Barb Arsenault will be donating 10% of all clothing sales made during the following week to the foundation for Breast Cancer Research.

“So it is a fundraising effort but we're not asking for donations.”

In addition, the evening will be featuring four door prizes.

“One of them will be donated by our partner Chez Lizette, Brenda Plamondon will be donating a gift certificate for a 16' pizza, and for the other three prizes we haven't quite decided yet.”

The spring fashion show will be held on April 13 at Blooming Bouquet, located across from the grocery store.

“ We're hoping to have a good turnout of ladies coming out to enjoy the evening.”
