KAPUSKASING - A team of curlers from Kapuskasing will soon be participating in the Under 18 Provincial competition on held in New Liskeard this upcoming weekend.

The Val Albert Motors team featuring the talents of Jonathan Hince (Skip), Joshua Hince (Vice), Justin Francoeur, Jonathan Power, and Justin Asner will be participating in the competition held March 7 to the 11. The event will feature eight teams competing from six regions, says team coach Robin Francoeur.

“Two of those players (The Hinces) have been to the Provincials before, but for the three youngest ones it will be their first time,” Francoeur said. “So it should be a good experience for them.”

He said that one of the teams they will have to face is Team Horgan, who have previously done quite well.

“They're the team that won Nationals last year, so we're going to do our best to be competitive thats for sure.”

Francoeur expressed his thanks to Val Albert Motors for sponsoring the team throughout the season, as well as other businesses that helped donate for the tournament.

“I'd also like to thank the Kapuskasing Curling Club, Val Albert Motors, Investors Group, Robichaud Insurance, GT Plumbing, Eastview Chev, Caisse Populaire of Kapuskasing, Service Master, Collins Barrow, Rial Charon Trucking, and Dr. Michael Power for their donations towards us heading to the provincials.”
