KAPUSKASING – The Kapuskasing Figure Skating Club (KFSC) hosted one of the final Canada 150 events of the year on Dec. 10 with the Canada 150 Skating Day free skate hosted on the South Rink at the Sports Palace.

“All across Canada, arenas and organizations are hosting events like this one where everyone has the opportunity to skate throughout the day,” said event organizer Emilie Lemieux.

She said that alongside the skating, cake, hot chocolate, and coffee, was also on hand to help celebrate the day.

“We also had draws every ten to fifteen minutes so participants could sign their name to be entered into to win various Canada themed prizes.”

She said that turnout was amazing, with over 100 people filling the ice in its first hour.

“It's been a full house, everyone has been full of smiles,” Lemieux said. “We're very pleased with the event and we're hoping everyone enjoyed Skating Day.”
