Full Pool at the Top Fish

The OK Tire Kapswim team hosted its annual Top Fish last Sunday and no less than 93 swimmers took part in the event at the Donat Brousseau pool.

This meet is designed for 12 and under swimmers who currently don’t hold standard times in certain races, and provides the perfect environment for new swimmers to experiment what meets are all about. Clubs from Kirkland Lake, Iroquois Falls, Timmins, Cochrane and Hearst made the trip to the Model Town.

Ok Tire Kapswim had 35 participating swimmers with many of them competing in their first ever meet.  Matthew, Ryan and Hannah Bouffard, Owen Mackenzie, Maxime and Sylvanie Mercier, Karelle Bédard, Hailey Bolduc, Trinity Carrière, Kate Chmilewski, Ella Godin, Rosalie Philippe, Kyana Sanford, Harley Taylor-Parent and Emily Turgeon all experienced their first real swimming competition. While Brayden and Savana Hachey, Félix Lepage, Claudie Audras, Danelle Brisson, Emma Côté, Carley and Tessa Dambrowitz, Leah Henderson, Mackenzie Isaac, Abby LaSalle, Alexi Larabie, Emily and Jodie Laurin, Sadie McGregor, Gabrielle Morissette, Alexa Ouimette, Olivia Reedhead, and Isabelle and Sophie Renaud already had some or a lot of meet experience.

Returning swimmers were able to shave some time off of their previous races. However, with the Kap pool being only 25 yards, time comparisons can only be made with those obtained at last year’s Top Fish.  Nonetheless, all of the team’s swimmers were able to grab at least one top 3 finish in their individual or relay races, and the experience gained will go a long way in making this a successful season for them.

The club will now travel to Thunder Bay and Kirkland Lake for their next two upcoming meets.
