Senior Health Fair provides host of information to older adults

he Porcupine Health Unit hosted a Senior Health Fair on Oct.24. The event, taking place at the Civic Centre in Kapuskasing, featured a variety of representatives of different services and programs available for seniors in the community.

he Porcupine Health Unit hosted a Senior Health Fair on Oct.24. The event, taking place at the Civic Centre in Kapuskasing, featured a variety of representatives of different services and programs available for seniors in the community.

 KAPUSKASING - The Porcupine Health Unit in Kapuskasing hosted a Senior Health Fair on Oct. 24 that provided seniors access to a variety of booths and displays featuring information on a variety of different services and programs on-hand in the area. 

The all-day event lasted from 10 am to 4, in a day that also saw a variety of presentations being made every hour beginning at 11. 

 
Public Health Nurse Joanne Bennett said the speakers included a presentation on food safety from a health inspector, a presentation on healthy eating by a dietician, a presentation on physical activity by a member of Aging at Home, and the debut of a new local theatre troupe Rising Star. 
 
“The last presentation was the group  Rising Star, which is a brand new theatre troupe that we have in Kapuskasing, its all seniors and they're skits are aimed at seniors' healthy aging and safety.”
