Abundant Life has officially broke ground on a planned expansion to its church building on Ash Street. On July 4 the Church held a groundbreaking ceremony with members before the project began on July 5.

Work has begun on expanding the Abundant Life Church building in Kapuskasing, as the church held a groundbreaking ceremony on July 4, with the work officially beginning on July 5.

Lead Pastor of the church Jason Burt, said that the expansion will be adding a little bit over 2100 square feet to the building.

“Currently on Sunday mornings in specific, we didn't have enough room for our children and various functions that occur, so we needed to expand in order to have room to continue to grow,” he said.

The expansion is following a number of renovations that have recently been done to the building.

“So we've been renovating the back section of our building as well,” Burt said. “We wanted to expand our kitchen, and put in a barrier free washroom and make everything wheelchair accessible, so that is part of the project, and the new section will tie into the existing building.”

He said that he hopes that by the fall Abundant Life will have the opportunity to invite the community to come and visit.

“Our hope is to have a community dinner and function to welcome everyone in and see how things are.”
