This Sept. 25, Miguel Tailleur was crowned the Angler of the Year for the Northern Ontario Walleye Tour (NOWT). Tailleur earned a 14-foot Princecraft boat as this year’s winner.

In this event there are six tournaments: Mattagami Lake First Nation Walleye Derby, Dubreuilville Magpie Walleye Derby, Geraldton Walleye Classic, Kapuskasing River Walleye Tournament, Mattagami Fall Classic Walleye and Sagamok Walleye Classic.

The angler’s top three finishes are calculated in the competition for the Angler of the Year award.

Tailleur finished fourth in the overall standings last season.

The award winner said he loves the NOWT experience.

The experience is exceptional you meet a lot of different anglers from across Ontario. It is a sport that I'm extremely passionate about,” said Tailleur. “I have been fortunate to have a partner, Denis Gendreau, who has the same drive that I do for this sport. We work hard and we enjoy every moment of it. We are blessed with families and friends who stand behind us and support us 100 per cent”.

Tailleur said he was also very grateful for his sponsors, Drisdale’s Variety, La P’tit Tackle Shop, GTC , Gates Graiding, Dela Pieta Restaurant, Nicole Stitch On Embroidery, Lecour Motors Sales, Dufour Waste Disposal and Gendreau Logging.

Denis and I are thankful for the support of they numerous sponsors that helped us through this fishing season,” he commented. “We’re looking forward to next season already.”
