The divorce fight between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is shaping up to be the splitsville slugfest to end all slugfests.
And Hollywood luminaries have been quick to choose sides.
At the heart of the split, according to People magazine, has been a reportedly ongoing battle over the 52-year-old Pitt’s boozing, pot smoking and treatment of their six-kid brood.
A TMZ/People report said Pitt was plastered on a private plane and yelled at one their children and hit them. He allegedly continued his rant on the runway and apparently tried to drive away in a fuel truck.
The child abuse allegations have now been turned over to the FBI because the G-Men have jurisdiction on airplanes.
But is the star being stitched up?
“He was never physically abusive to her or the kids,” a source told the New York Post. “He did yell at one of their children on the plane during an argument but he didn’t hit the child. Brad is denying claims of inappropriate behaviour.”
The Pitt narrative is that the World War Z star is being unfairly painted as a child abuser because Jolie wants the children for herself.
A source close to the actor told The New York Post, “Angelina is putting out [the abuse] story to take the kids away from him. [Her team] is so aggressive they called all the major networks, People and TMZ with claims he’s beating her and the kids.”
Disciplining their children had long been a bone of contention between the pair, People reports.
Pitt has always been the stricter of the two and wanted the children to have more structure. He would impose rules which she would undermine, a source told the magazine.
“Brad is an incredibly loving father ... he understands that discipline and accountability are an important part of parenting,” the source said, adding that their house was “constant chaos.”
The news that the Hollywood golden couple were calling it quits stunned the world when it was revealed Wednesday.
People said Jolie, 41, broke the news to the heartthrob just days before filing for divorce. He begged her to reconsider.
“He was appealing to her to do this quietly -- not to save the marriage but to consider the well-being of the children -- and it was ignored,” another source said, adding the actor is “wrecked” by the split. “He was willing to do anything, change any habit.”
Meanwhile, Marion Cotillard broke her silence about whispers she played a role in the Pitt-Jolie split, insisting she’s happy with her French lover, their son and the baby she’s expecting.
She said of her partner, Guillaume Canet on Instagram: “He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need.”
