Daisy Ridley confirms she has had "conversations" about playing action heroine Lara Croft in a new movie franchise.
The Star Wars: The Force Awakens actress is rumoured to be in the running to take over from Angelina Jolie in a rebooted movie series, based on the popular Tomb Raider video games. Now the newcomer admits there â 3/8have been conversations" but she has not been offered the part.
"I'm waiting for someone to say 'I want you, let's do it'," she tells The Hollywood Reporter at the Empire Film Awards in London, where she scooped the Best Female Newcomer prize on Sunday.
The 23-year-old also revealed a script had not even been written for the film, but she would make time to do both Tomb Raider and Star Wars movies, adding, "Absolutely, I'm trying to fill up my calendar."
The actress was joined by her Star Wars co-star John Boyega, 24, who thinks she would be the perfect choice for the fictional action star.
"I played Tomb Raider the game, it's a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version," he tells the publication. "But I texted Daisy (and) was like, 'this is you!' and 'you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.' She should be."
The duo are currently reprising their roles of Rey and Finn respectively in Star Wars: Episode VIII, which began filming at Pinewood Studios near London in February.
Lara Croft first appeared in video games in 1996 and stars in the 2015 release Rise of the Tomb Raider. Angelina, now 40, played Lara in 2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and its 2003 sequel, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.
