LONDON, Ont. — A volunteer for Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership candidate Monte McNaughton has been arrested after threatening messages were sent to rival Christine Elliot’s campaign.

“The matter is pending before the courts and we have nothing to add,” Elliott spokesman Mike Ras said.

The staffer has been dismissed.

McNaughton’s campaign communications team did not respond to a phone message, two e-mails and a Facebook message from QMI Agency. McNaughton also could not be reached.

The threats came in the form of a series of text messages, according to media reports.

The woman involved in the case has been suspended from the campaign by the candidate and her security privileges at the legislature have been revoked.
