Rush announces 40th anniversary tour
After chatter about whether it would actually happen or not, Canadian rock legends Rush have announced dates for their upcoming 40th anniversary tour, and it includes four stops north of the border.
The 34-date trek kicks off on May 8 in Tulsa, Okla., and ends on Aug. 1 in Los Angeles. In between, shows are booked for Toronto's Air Canada Centre on June 17 and June 19, Montreal's Bell Centre on June 21, Calgary's ScotiaBank Saddledome on July 15 and Vancouver's Rogers Arena on July 17.
Tickets for the Canadian portion of the trek will go on sale on February 6, with the exception of Montreal - it will go on sale February 7. Ticket prices have not been revealed as yet, but you have a few weeks to save up.
For those with deep pockets, VIP packages will be available through VIPNation.com.
The tour has been in the works for quite some time, but was cast into doubt after drummer Neil Peart told Prog magazine earlier this month that he had serious reservations about going out on a long, drawn-out tour.
"It's a true dilemma – there's no right answer," he said. "People say to me, 'Are you still excited when you go on tour?' Should I be excited about leaving my family? No, and no one should. It's as simple as that. If you put aside the fantasy of it, it is what it is and has to be done. And that's fine and I pour my entire energy and enthusiasm into it, but of course, I'm of two minds about the whole idea."
