Cops arrested a 46-year-old man Tuesday afternoon after windows at CBC’s downtown Ottawa broadcast headquarters were smashed.

Police say the windows, made of safety glass, were smashed using a sledgehammer but nobody was hurt.

The man in police custody was captured and held by CBC security guards who called police around 1:55 p.m.

It’s not clear why the windows of the large complex were smashed.

Berhane Embaye Zerat is charged with mischief to property over $5,000 and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.

He is in court Wednesday.
