A decision on what to do about Mayor Rob Ford on the ballot for mayor has yet to be made but his brother Doug says the bigger battle is his health troubles.
"He is in for the fight of his life," Councillor Doug Ford said.
The family is awaiting an early diagnosis from doctors Friday before making a decision - but councillor Ford said "putting both our names on the ballot" is not an option because "it would be too confusing."
So far the extent of the mayor's health woes are unclear, Ford said.
"It's not easy and his mind is racing," Ford said.
Mayor Ford is eager to continue the election campaign but could be facing "a surgery and chemotherapy and could be on his back for six to eight weeks."
The mayor is also trying to determine the right course of action.
This would include having Doug Ford run in his place.
"This decision has not yet been made and there is a lot of pressure because the deadline is in a few hours," the councillor said.
Having the mayor putting his name on the ballot for Ward 2 today is also an option, he added.
"We are waiting to talk to the doctors and a decision has to be made."
Doug Ford said he will follow his brothers wishes.
"I would jump off a bridge for the guy."
