Robert Depatie officially became president and CEO of Quebecor Inc. at the company's annual meeting in Montreal on Wednesday.
Depatie succeeds Pierre Karl Peladeau, who announced on March 14 that he would be stepping down as president and CEO of Quebecor after 14 years in the role. Peladeau will assume a new position as chairman of Quebecor Media Inc. and of TVA Group. He has also been named vice-chairman of the board at parent company Quebecor Inc.
"With his great management qualities, his vision and his exceptional leadership, the board of directors is confident that Robert Depatie will continue to pursue the growth and development of Quebecor and Quebecor Media as successfully as he did at Videotron," board chair Francoise Bertrand said in French.
Peladeau said at the meeting that he is stepping down without hesitation and entrusting his former role to Depatie.
Depatie has worked at Quebecor subsidiary Videotron since 2001.
